| A | Click on Start>Control Panel>Double-click Mail>Click E-mail Accounts>New>Check the Manually configure server settings or additional server types box. Then Click Next.
Click on Microsoft Exchange and Click Next. Enter fms.uwstout.edu if you are Faculty or Staff, stm.uwstout.edu if you are a student. Uncheck Use Cached Exchange Mode. Type in your E-mail User Name and click on Check Name. Your Name should become underlined. Click Next.
Click on Finish. Click on Close twice to exit out of the Accounts and Mail Setup windows. Close the Control Panel and start Outlook. Back to top |

Double-click the Mail icon and click Add.
Type in a Profile Name and click OK.
Click Next
Select Microsoft Exchange Server then Next.
For the server name, type in FMS if you are Staff or Faculty. Otherwise type in STM. Enter your username and click Next.

| A | While the university does not support the configuration of these clients, these services are still available. The ingoing/outgoing server for all faculty/staff configurations is webmail.uwstout.edu. The ports are as follows. | A | Currently, we have two levels of spam protection. The first one is two Barracuda Spam Firewalls. This is a Barracuda Networks product. The second level is the Junk E-mail filter in your mailbox which you can access via Outlook or webmail. Back to top |

| Q | What is Cached Exchange Mode? |
| A | Cached Exchanged Mode synchronizes Outlook with your mailbox. This allows you to read your e-mail when you’re offline. Your responses to your e-mail will sit in your Outbox until you are able to work online again. Then they will be sent out. Your Junk E-mail filter is enabled once you are in Exchange Cached Mode. | A | If you are using Outlook 2003 or 2007, download and install the Microsoft PFBackup tool from pfbackup.exe. Once installed, open Outlook. The Personal Folders file (.pst) that you want to back up must be open. If the file is visible in Folder List of Outlook, it is open.

| A | If you recieve an email similar to the example below stating "Too many emails from this sender", then you have sent too many emails to off-campus email accounts within a designated period. You will need to wait 35 minutes from the time stated directly after "The following recipient(s) cannot be reached" until you can start sending external emails again; in the example below you would need to wait until after 11:38 AM. Please note that if you send an email to an external account before the 35 minute timeout has expired, you will recieve another email like the example and will need to wait an additional 35 minutes. Note: If your email does get locked out from sending external emails, like in this example, you can still send emails to Stout email accounts (@uwstout.edu addresses).

| A | When logging into Webmail you receive a message that your password will expire soon. This message indicates that your UW-Stout password needs to be changed. You can choose to either change your password now or continue to your Webmail inbox. However, if you do not change your password in time and it actually expires, you will not be able to log into any UW-Stout websites other than Webmail and the Password Website .
