QWhen I open Brio i just get a blank screen with a red x?
AMicrosoft IE critical security patch KB896688 released 10/11/05 causes Brio Insight to malfunction, resulting in the user being unable to run Brio Query documents using Brio Insight (for Internet Explorer). Documents viewed from the Query Library may also not load. Rather than loading the user may see only a red 'X' in the upper left corner of the browser window, or a broken document image.To resolve the problem:
  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Click to Tools.
  • Click on Internet Options.
  • Click on the Security tab.
  • Click on Trusted Sites icon.
  • Click on the Sites button.
  • In "Add this Web site to the zone," type http://brio.doit.wisc.edu/.
  • Make sure that "Require server verification..." is NOT checked.
  • Click on the Add button.
You should now be able to use Brio Insight normally. The first time you access a document via Insight, you might get a box asking whether or not you want to accept this site. Make sure to accept it.
